Collaborative Drug Discovery, Inc. & Royal Society of Chemistry's ChemSpider Announce Partnership

BURLINGAME, CA. and Wake Forest, N.C., February 21st, /PRNewswire/ — Collaborative Drug Discovery (CDD), the provider of the most widely used cloud-based drug discovery software platform on the market and Royal Society of Chemistry’s (RSC) ChemSpider, a leading provider of chemical services and data on the internet, have implemented two-way linking of public compounds that were previously only in CDD.

As part of an earlier collaboration users of CDD could click through from a molecule in the Public Datasets and link directly to content in ChemSpider. Now the return process has been enabled and anyone using ChemSpider will be able to click through to the CDD Public datasets on the CDD website.

Dr. Sean Ekins, Collaborations Director at CDD, Inc. described some of the benefits of this valuable two-way integration as “We believe exposing these Public Datasets in ChemSpider will naturally raise awareness amongst all scientists of the value of the being able to access public data with private data in CDD Vaults. Previously we linked out from molecules securely in CDD to ChemSpider, now for the first time we are opening up the CDD Public data to link ins from ChemSpider, in order to expose more people to CDD. This will help people find CDD for the first time and allow them to experience the best of what ChemSpider and CDD have to offer. Dr. Antony J. Williams, Vice President of Strategic Development, ChemSpider at RSC agrees, “ChemSpider continues its mission to link together chemistry resources on the internet and, in this collaboration with CDD, we have established a simple navigation between our platforms that is sure to benefit both CDD and ChemSpider users and ultimately Drug Discovery researchers seeking public domain data.”

About the CDD platform (CDD Vault™, CDD Collaborate™, and CDD Public™)

The CDD platform contains a data import workflow with templates to streamline the data upload process. The rest of the site is organized intuitively, with a separate section for each distinct major activity. Searching and browsing molecules and protocols are performed in the “Explore Data” section of the application. The “Share Data” section makes collaboration (without sacrificing security) easy. The new Dashboard brings relevant information to the user’s attention immediately upon login. CDD incorporates feedback from the growing user community. CDD also supports alliances, crowd-sourcing, and custom applications.

    About Collaborative Drug Discovery, Inc.

CDD (www.collaborativedrug.com) provides the most widely used web-based drug discovery software platform on the market. “CDD Vault™” is the secure, private industrial-strength database combining traditional drug discovery informatics (registration and SAR) with social networking capabilities. “CDD Collaborate™” enables real-time collaboration by securely exchanging selected confidential data with external researchers. “CDD Public™” enables researchers to mine a unique aggregation of information from a variety of scientific data providers.

About the Royal Society of Chemistry

The Royal Society of Chemistry is the UK Professional Body for chemical scientists and an international Learned Society for the chemical sciences with more than 47,500 members worldwide. It is a major international publisher of chemical information, supports the teaching of chemical sciences at all levels and is a leader in bringing science to the public. www.rsc.org
