CDD Vault Update: Enhanced Security Options

    Two-Factor Authentication

In this release CDD introduces an optional second layer of user authentication for groups that prefer added security. While a strong password is sufficient for most groups, a Vault can now require a second authentication step via mobile device or telephone. CDD has partnered with Duo Security ( www.duosecurity.com) to deliver this free option, which requires that each user has a mobile device or can receive phone calls on a land-line telephone. Authentication may be remembered for 12 hours after log-in from the same IP address. Vault Administrators can choose to enable two-factor authentication for all members within a Vault. Once enabled, users will login as usual with their unique usernames and passwords, and will be prompted to register and verify their phone with Duo Security. After the phone is verified, there will be an option to install a free app from Duo Security on the verified mobile device to make authentication easier. There is also an option to skip this step and simply elect to receive a phone call or text message whenever the user needs to authenticate. Please  contact us if you have any questions or would like to learn more.

    Security Notifications

Vault membership is currently managed by CDD personnel. When a user is added, removed, or user roles are changed, Vault Admins will now be automatically notified via e-mail.

    Inactive Users

Vault Admins can now choose to have user accounts disabled automatically after 180 days of inactivity. The default setting does not disable inactive users.

    ChemAxon Upgrade

Keeping up with our friends at ChemAxon, we've upgraded both JChem and Marvin to version 5.7. A large number of changes are included, but here are some highlights:
    • Improved structure image rendering, e.g. adamantane is drawn in improved perspective.
    • Simplified steps to create an R-group query. Attachment points can be set with a single click once the substituents are grouped by substitution point.

    Salt List for Chemical Registration

Vaults using CDD’s chemical registration and salt stripping can now view and download the full list of CDD salts and salt codes directly in the application. Click on a salt name in the batch section or see the link in the mapper under the Salt mapping option of the Batch section.
